The Knee joint is susceptible to injury, a hinge joint that relies on the muscles around it to provide support and maintain its stability. The knee is held in position by various ligaments that can be strained if the knee goes out of alignment. However, the knee also can become so protected that the ‘nocebo effect’ means students are not willing to challenge the joint at all. Yoga can help, not just by lengthening but also strengthening the main muscles around the knee joint.
The course is aimed at yoga teachers and yoga practitioners alike who would like to increase their knowledge of detailed anatomy and physiology. Bertie teaches A&P workshops (for example the Pelvic Floor, the Hips & Shoulder Workshop). Kinesiology & A&P is often not understood in a great level of detail. She has been a Yoga teacher for 22 years, worked with physios for 10 years and offers yoga teacher training where A&P is a particular focus. Bertie believes she can make A&P more accessible to enable yoga teachers and students alike connect with the knee joint through theory, role play and practice.
