Restoring Vitality in the Internal Organs: Advanced Thai Yoga Massage (and Bodywork) workshop with Katrin Heuser

The abdomen is the centre of our body, physically and energetically, and we even call it the second brain. It should not get forgotten in our treatments. Tension in and around the abdomen is often the reason for lower back pain, pelvic problems or digestive issues. Many people hold their emotional tension, habitual protective patterns and unprocessed trauma in this area.

In this workshop we will explore tools and techniques of visceral manipulation as well as the Eastern perspective of the Hara. And we will cultivate a deeper level of presence to help us connect with this usually more sensitive part of our Being.

We will work on:

  • Restoring vitality in the liver

  • Freeing the fascia surrounding the digestive organs

  • Special focus on the small and large intestines

  • The connection between the internal organs and the lower back

  • Promoting Vagal tone

  • Releasing tension in neighbouring muscle groups, such as the diaphragm and psoas

  • Deepening our understanding of this fluid world

  • Hara harmonisation

  • Integration with the structure and wholeness of the body

This workshop is for floor-based bodyworkers (Thai Yoga Massage, Shiatsu, Ayurvedic massage etc) and Yoga therapists working hands-on. Most of the workshop will be spent practicing the techniques on each other. Thai Yoga Massage is usually practiced fully clothed, but some of the techniques are easier when done directly on skin. So throughout the workshop we will be modelling how to create a safe and trauma-informed space for people to receive this healing modality.

By the end you will have a sequence/selection of techniques for detoxing internal organs, restoring vitality and releasing emotional tension, that you will be able to incorporate into your existing work supporting your clients. A light lunch will be provided in the Vishuddha Social Area.

Be part of the Care & Self-Care weekend! As important as it is to keep learning and developing professionally to care for others, it’s even more important to take care of ourselves. We invite everyone attending the Thai Yoga Massage workshop to join us on the Saturday (9th March) for 3 hours of nourishing Meridian Stretching & Somatics with a 25% discount.
