Join us for a monthly special Dharma Yoga Masterclass inspired by the teachings of beloved yoga master Sri Dharma Mittra. Taught together by Ayesha and Eddie, this is a rare opportunity to experience two teachers for the price of one as they share the practices that have shaped their own path.
This extended masterclass offers the space to go beyond what is possible in a regular weekly class. Rooted in the classical teachings of Dharma Yoga, we'll explore not only the physical practice of āsana but also the deeper purpose of yoga: cultivating a quiet mind, an open heart, and a deeper connection to our true nature.
We will begin with a short spiritual discourse, mantra and centring practice before moving into a balanced sequence of classical Hatha Yoga postures. Together we'll refine familiar poses, explore alignment in greater depth, and safely work towards more challenging postures with plenty of individual guidance, options and modifications throughout.
The practice may include backbends, forward folds, twists, inversions, restorative postures and partner-assisted work, creating a supportive environment in which to explore your practice with curiosity rather than ambition. Whether you're hoping to deepen your understanding of familiar postures or discover something entirely new, the masterclass provides the time and guidance to do so.
As with all Dharma Yoga practices, the physical postures are only one part of the journey. Throughout the class we'll also explore elements of prāṇāyāma, concentration, mudrā, meditation and deep relaxation, offering a complete and traditional yoga experience.
Suitable for students with some previous yoga experience, this masterclass is an invitation to slow down, practise with intention, and immerse yourself in a lineage that honours yoga as a path of self-discovery and compassionate living.
As Sri Dharma Mittra reminds us: "The goal of yoga is not to master the body, but to realise the peace, joy and freedom that already exist within us."
All levels of experience are welcome. Come with an open mind and a playful heart!
Cost £30 (if you are struggling to pay the full fee, please choose the concession price of £22 at checkout). Book here
About Ayesha:
I am a yoga teacher, researcher and lifelong student of yoga with a passion for women's wellbeing, spirituality and the mystical traditions.
My own journey with yoga began more than twenty years ago at the age of fourteen. Since then I have been blessed to study with wonderful teachers in India, the UK and the USA. I qualified to teach Vinyasa Flow over ten years ago and have since completed advanced trainings at Triyoga and with my main teacher, Sri Dharma Mittra.
Of all the teachings I have received, becoming a mother has been the greatest initiation of my spiritual journey. It has deepened my understanding of yoga, reminding me that practice is not confined to the mat but woven through every stage of life.
My teaching is rooted in the Indian tradition of yoga and inspired by the devotional path of Dharma Yoga, alongside my love of mysticism, the Goddess traditions and contemplative practice. I aim to honour the beauty and depth of this ancient tradition with authenticity and respect, sharing what has been so generously passed on to me. My classes weave together breath, movement, sound and stillness, whilst gently introducing students to philosophy and mantra.
When I'm not on the yoga mat you'll usually find me working with clients through bodywork, immersed in my PhD research, or with my head in a book! I am currently undertaking a PhD in the Psychology of Spirituality and also hold degrees in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, Reproductive and Sexual Health Research, and Psychology.
About Eddie:
Eddie took his first in 2011 as a quintessentially stiff office guy. He found everything difficult and hated it... or so he thought.
Perhaps, because he found it so hard, something about the practice drew him back and for several years thereafter he would dip his toe in and out again until a family bereavement in 2018 pushed him to dedicate himself to a regular practice.
Since then, Eddie has immersed himself in the study of yoga āsana and yogic texts. As well as Ayesha, to whom he is especially grateful, he credits his other teachers, Ambra Vallo, Emi Tull, Rev. Dr. Stephen Thompson, Sri Dharma Mittra and the faculties of Indaba in London and the Dharma Yoga Center in New York City for their perseverance and patience with him. Eddie completed his 200h and 500h teacher trainings at Indaba and DYC, and he has learned Sanskrit through the University of Oxford Department of Continuing Education and the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies along the way. He continues to study the scriptures, and he hopes to complete his 800h training at DYC in future.
Beyond the āsana, Eddie loves weaving in mantra and verses from both the bhagavad-gītā and other sacred texts into his classes. At all times, he does so in an accessible way, mindful that yoga can – and should – be a practice for everybody. Eddie is grateful to share the practice and loves to laugh with his students, and at himself.
