Yoga for Better Sleep with Derek Elliott

We will explore the application of modern sleep science, yoga therapy and mindfulness to help settle us into restful sleep.

Deep restful sleep is a great blessing. I spent many uneasy years with insomnia with little idea of what resources were available to help me rest again. My own journey back to sleep left me with a passion to help resource others so that you too can experience better sleep. A major cause of difficult sleep is simply stress, and even where it is not the initial trigger, it becomes part of the pattern sooner or later. Most of us who have turned to pills and potions find they have no long term efficacy and realize that we need to practice a deeper form of self-care and compassion.

The workshop includes an overview of the various routes to better sleep and includes a practical exploration of some of the options. These resources include both the findings of modern sleep science and the capacity of some aspects of yoga to help us find deep ease. We will explore both sleep management, and practice methods designed to calm the nervous system. We will also touch on the kind ways in which we might negotiate the night-time experience.

I am a practicing sleep therapist and yoga teacher and I know that insomnia needn’t be a permanent state of affairs. Restoration of good sleep really can happen. The workshop will include time for questions and some conversation.

Cost £30. You can book here.
