Through the Lens of the Vagus Nerve: Advanced Thai Yoga massage and Bodywork Workshop with Katrin Heuser

This workshop is for floor-based bodyworkers (Thai Yoga Massage, Shiatsu, Ayurvedic massage etc) and Yoga therapists, or if you work with hands-on adjustments and touch, and are increasingly attracting clients dealing with more complex issues, such as pain, chronic conditions or trauma, and if you are working with people who are looking for support in their personal healing and growth process. These people are in need of more than just a relaxing treatment or a good stretch. This is where we need to understand and work directly with the Autonomic Nervous System and the Vagus Nerve.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • The 101 on the Polyvagal Theory

  • The role of the Vagus Nerve when dealing with challenging situations

  • The anatomy and functioning of the Vagus Nerve

  • Techniques and bodywork moves to promote Vagal tone and how to help regulate the nervous system

  • How to invigorate the craniosacral system

  • How to improve communication in the body

  • How to hone your listening skills through your touch

  • How to hold a safe space

After a short theory session and some discussion, most of the afternoon we will spend practicing on each other. By the end you will have a sequence/selection of techniques you will be able to incorporate into your existing work supporting your clients. A hand-out will be provided. A light vegetarian/vegan lunch will be provided in the Vishuddha Centre Social Area.
