Moon Ritual: A monthly circle for women

Join Ayesha for a monthly women’s circle based on the moon on the first Sunday of the next 3 months (5th May, 2nd June, 7th July from 15.30-16.45).

It was traditional in many cultures around the world for women to gather together in spiritual ceremony. Centuries of persecution of the priestess, the wise woman and the healer resulted in women abandoning this tradition, and associated spaces. But, now women around the world are remembering and reviving this tradition and sitting in circle once again.

In these circles there will be time to share, to sing, to meditate and to journal. The practices will be chosen based on the energetic frequency of the moon and its astrological position.

Why the moon?

You may be familiar with the great fire festivals that mark the cycle of the sun through the year (solstice, equinox etc.). But, what about the cycles of the moon? Every month the moon waxes to full and wanes to new producing an energetic effect on our planet. We can see the effect in the tides, and when we are able to make sense of it, we can also see the effect on us both as individuals and collectively. Astrology gives us a language through which to understand the archetypal themes that arise.

These themes often occur as polarities between the sun and the moon. In yoga, we are interested in understanding and transforming the spaces between polarities. The sun is associated with the atman or the soul, the moon is associated with the psyche, the mind and the emotions. As the light of the sun, shines on the moon, it is through this veil that we experience divine consciousness and through which our perception is filtered.

As we attune to how changes in the astronomical environment affect us, we come to understand another aspect of our human experience as beings that are very much part of the whole.

Cost: £30 for 3 Months (May 5th, June 2nd, July 7th). Book here.
